This dress was custom dyed and made in record time for a dear friend. The design collaboration took months of calls between Eugene and L.A, and despite our best efforts and plenty of lead time, there were a few major problems. We had ruined fabric (which had to be re-ordered and replaced in a jiffy), a solo night on the streets of San Francisco from which the dress was miraculously recovered by a kind Mission St. restaurant owner (the dress had been in the possession of a homeless person who had been snuggling it in its unopened white box) and a 36 hour dying, cutting, and sewing marathon once we had the new fabric. Whew! But then "...the course of true love never did run smoothly".
